ABOUT becca
chicago born / chicago lived
I’m a Chicago native, an interior designer Mon-Fri, a mom, avid reader, and photographer on the weekends. I approach life with an astronomical amount of empathy and curiosity.
Chances are you are reaching out during a deeply personal time of your life, which I see, feel, and likely have experienced myself.
After ten years of photography, I have found my niche as a small wedding and elopement photographer, and documentary family photographer. I have been alongside couples and families for years, capturing their engagement and wedding, their exciting maternity chapter, newborn babies and yearly family portraits.
Every day I veer further from the “say cheese” posed photos and dive deeper into the organic moments. I’m looking to work with individuals, couples, and families who want to transcend boundaries when it comes to photography, and get a little uncomfortable to collaborate conceptually to share your beautiful and artistic story.
I am a trained architect, which allows me to see the world differently as a photographer. I see layers, dramatic lighting, geometry, and symmetry, which means your photos will be artistic, candid, and thoughtfully framed. I am known for putting my clients in front of urban playgrounds. I will guide you verbally through our sessions and encourage you to forget I am there with a camera. The photos that are spontaneous and unplanned will end up being our favorites!
I am not everyone’s cup of tea, and that’s ok. When inquiring, please keep in mind that I do best with natural light and in an environment of your choosing that reflects your life’s story.
I thrive on rainy days and overcast light. I crank the exposure down and pick the blurred photos with hair blowing in your face. People come to me for my moody, natural, and editorial vibe.
Beyond photography, I work a day job as a designer, which constantly flexes my creative muscles. I show up to our shoots inspired and eager to tell your story on a fresh canvas every time. Photography has been a part of my life since high school where I developed film in dark rooms and still play with my manual camera to this day.
