capturing beauty beyond bodies

Hey friend! Happy New Year. I don't know about you, but this break was a blur full of sniffles and bugs, survival mode, and some sparkle and twinkle lights in between. There's always your Instagram vs. Reality versions of life, and I did the best I could trying to make the two look as close as possible, but we know the reality of how that goes.

With a 'new year' comes new goals and resolutions, and it feels like starting anew goes against the grain. January is for embracing the dead of winter, consuming calories, hibernation, saving our awakening for springtime when nature starts to bloom. Do you feel this way? What's your take on New Year's resolutions?

Last summer we had our first photo session since I welcomed baby, and truth be told, the photos are stunning. Yet, as the subject, I find it challenging to share them. Investing in my own photos feels daunting knowing I'll scrutinize every detail even before receiving the gallery.

Having been behind the lens, I want to remind us all that we're beautiful vessels. My photography is raw; it aims to capture your true essence, transcending mere boundaries. I delve beneath the surface to frame your soul in every shot. Our bodies are the least interesting thing about us.

Just as I've learned not to cling to clothes I may never fit into again, I've resolved not to delay capturing moments while chasing a "better" body. I often receive compliments on capturing people's essence, and with a body-neutral mindset, I aim to ease your worries. You don't need to stress about the "perfect" outfit—just be authentically yourself.

Clients have expressed feeling at ease during their sessions and upon viewing their galleries, surpassing any body-related concerns they had. As for outfits, prioritize comfort over appearance. [I'm delighted to assist with colors and patterns that photograph well, considering the season.]

Reflecting on my journey, I've learned to prioritize comfort and self-expression over societal standards. My goal is to authentically capture you as you are, not transform you into something else.

Here's my gentle suggestion for this year: rethink your approach to photo sessions. Instead of chasing perfection, consider preserving this specific time in your life—your unique bonds, family quirks, and individuality.

Cherish those fleeting baby curls, infectious giggles, your adeptness with your toddler, the charm of their dirty jeans, and those toothless grins. What if you let go of expectations and spent an hour loving each other and yourselves, creating these memories together? Choose a location that echoes your story, and I'll be there to capture it.

Your investment in this photography isn't just a purchase; it's a recognition of the value in freezing these moments in time.
